Amazon Future Engineers

Amazon Future Engineer is a program designed amed at children and students to raise awareness about digital opportunities. Particular attention is paid to children from disadvantaged backgrounds and girls to help them build a career in IT professions.

Amazon Future Engineers is a project made in collaboration with Amazon and France IOI. The goal here is to create an experience where players would learn code while progressing through the game.

The challenge is to build a city from the ground up using a crane as a vehicle and python as it’s fuel. The player must enter the right actions, using either python or blockly, in the crane to complete each building.

With each challenge, new notions like loops, variables and conditions add variety and difficulty. This allows the player to smoothly progress while learning everything he needs to start coding his own ideas.

The most difficult part was to design this progression curve as smoothly as possible to keep the player engaged and challenged at the same time.
