ADA
Question reality. Embrace conscience.
Ada is a game project I and a team of industry professionals pitched to Ubisoft.
We had this idea of a Cyberpunk Investigation game where AI and new technologies at its core.
Here’s the pitch:
You play as ADA, a tech enhanced investigator on the tracks of a new terrorist group called The Superconscious and preaching a new way to merge with AI as the next step to human evolution. Look for the right clues on crime scenes and explore the city to learn more about those terrorrists, about the firm that employs you and about yourself.
On this pitch, I mainly focused on the game mechanics as we really wanted to propose something new for the investigation. The city must feel real, with NPCs having places to be and things to do. That way, Players would be able to know where to find someone only based on a piece of information like their uniform or the type of vehicle they used.
The investigation was thought as non-linear. Allowing every one to explore their own tracks. Only a few key elements were fixed in order to keep everything coherent (Death of a character, discovery about the terrorists, etc…)
I also designed an “Eagle Eye” system for our cyborg protagonist where the player had to choose what to see and what to ignore in order to make sense of what’s happening in each crime scene.
We knew we couldn’t make it happen only by ourselves so after talking about it with a lot of people working at Ubisoft during this time, we pitched it to them and even if they were really into it at first, they didn’t proceed with it.
Oh well, that’s another game idea I keep around for later!
